📍 France
Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval is an iconic 19th-century whimsical architecture. Constructed by French postman Ferdinand Cheval between 1879 and 1912, the imaginary palace, lies in the picturesque Hauterives, France. The structure is composed of pebbles and other stones collected by Cheval during his mail rounds. Inside, you will find the meandering corridors and staircase, impressive spiral towers, grottos and animal sculptures that Cheval built out of his imagination. Its most striking feature is its main entry which includes three enormous stone dragons and two guardian lions. The palace is listed as a Historic Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is now open to the public.
