๐ From Outisde, France
The Palais des Papes in Avignon is the largest Gothic palace in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Built in the 14th century, it served as the papal residence during the Avignon Papacy. Ideal for photo-travelers, its exterior boasts imposing, fortress-like architecture with battlements and towers. Inside, the Grand Chapel offers stunning frescoes by Matteo Giovanetti, while the Courtyard of Honor provides excellent angles for capturing the grandeur of medieval architecture. For panoramic shots, the Rocher des Doms park nearby offers elevating views of the palace against the Rhone River. Visit during late afternoon or early morning for softer light and fewer crowds.
