📍 Portugal
Facing the Jardim do Príncipe Real, Palacete Ribeiro da Cunha is a 19th-century mansion in Lisbon’s Príncipe Real neighborhood. Its Moorish Revival architecture reflects the Romantic-era fascination with Islamic design, expressed through horseshoe arches, slender columns and elaborate ornamental plasterwork. Built as a wealthy merchant’s residence, the palace now houses Embaixada, a shopping gallery showcasing Portuguese design and craftsmanship. Inside, the arcaded central courtyard offers a concentrated view of the building’s layered arches and intricate decoration, while contemporary displays contrast with the theatrical setting of the former private home.
