The Palace of the Parliament, located in Bucharest, Romania, is considered the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon. Built in the 1980s, during the Communist era, the Palace is a testament to the excesses of Romania's former leader, Nicolae Ceausescu. The Palace of Parliament stands 12 stories high and encompasses 12 stories underground, including nuclear bunkers and an underground freight railway. Today, it is home to the Romanian Senate, Chamber of Deputies, and diverse departments of the Romanian Government. Inside, visitors can find a variety of attractions, including the Hall of lost Steps, the Hall of the Republic, and the Grand Exhibition Hall, among many others. Not only is the building aesthetically stunning, but it is also packed full of history and culture. The Palace is a must-see for anyone visiting Romania and its capital city, Bucharest.
