Commissioned at the turn of the 20th century, the Palace of the Deposits and Consignments (locally known as the CEC Palace) stands proudly on Calea Victoriei, across from the National Museum of Romanian History. Its ornate French Renaissance-style façade and signature glass dome have made it one of Bucharest’s architectural treasures. Built as the headquarters for Romania’s oldest bank, this grand edifice offers a glimpse into the capital’s Belle Époque charm. Though the interior is generally off-limits, visitors can still admire its exterior details and learn about its history through occasional exhibitions. The central location makes it easy to combine with nearby landmarks and shopping spots.
