📍 Poland
The Palace of the Commonwealth, also known as Krasiński Palace, stands on Krasiński Square beside the Krasiński Garden in central Warsaw. Designed in the late 17th century by Tylman van Gameren for the Krasiński family, it is distinguished by a symmetrical Baroque façade, a prominent central pediment and sculptural decoration associated with Andreas Schlüter. The building later served state institutions, was devastated during the Second World War and reconstructed afterward; today it belongs to Poland’s National Library. Its broad forecourt gives an unobstructed view of the pale stone elevation, green copper roof and formal proportions, while the nearby garden provides a softer backdrop of trees and seasonal color.
