Padrão dos Descobrimentos

Padrão dos Descobrimentos is a 53-metre (174 ft) monument located in the Tagus River in Lisboa, Portugal. It was built in 1960 to commemorate the Portuguese Age of Discovery, or Age of Exploration. Constructed in the Manueline style, it has 20 historical figures carved on its four sides which illustrates the Portuguese discoveries. It’s one of the best places to take photographs of the famous Lisbon harbour, along with the mesmerizing view of 25 de Abril bridge next to it. It’s best to visit at night to get the most out of the monuments lights. It’s also advised to bring a tripod for sharper images as low light photography requires longer exposures.
