Oude station van Spontin, in Yvoir, Belgium is a historic railway station located in the Province of Namur. It is the only surviving station from Belgium's former Thurn en Taxis Railway, which was once a major route connecting the industrial mining cities of Wallonia to the rest of Europe. The station is one of the few well-preserved remnants of the industrial past of this region, and is architecturally significant due to its ornate façade and its combination of industrial and Neo-Renaissance styles. It also boasts magnificent views of the Meuse river and is an ideal spot for picnics and day trips. The pedestrian bridge directly adjacent to the station is a popular viewpoint, leading up to a stunning system of fortifications which are open to visitors. Nearby villages make for a worthwile day trip, where you can explore the stunning countryside of the Ardennes, in addition to its rivers, lakes, monuments, and castles.
