📍 Japan
Ōsu Kannon is one of Nagoya's main attractions, located right in the city center. It is a large Buddhist temple honoring Kannon, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. The history of the temple goes back to 1550 when it was built by Mizuno Tadzumi. This colorful temple is surrounded by shops and restaurants and is often visited by locals and tourists alike. Inside the temple lies the Daikōtsu, a huge wooden Buddha statue that weighs 74 tonnes. The temple is a great example of typical Japanese architecture, complete with vibrant colors and intricate wood carvings. It's also an enjoyable place to take a stroll, as there is a pleasant walkway with a traditional garden surrounding the temple. Visitors can also enjoy various seasonal events and activities that are held throughout the year. There is an admission fee for visitors.
