Osher Rainforest occupies a four-story glass dome inside the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. Its warm, humid interior recreates rainforest habitats from Costa Rica, Madagascar, Borneo, and the Amazon, with dense tropical plants, free-flying butterflies and birds, reptiles, amphibians, and insects. A spiraling walkway rises through the canopy, creating layered views of foliage against the geometric dome and allowing close photographs of butterflies feeding or resting on leaves. The route concludes with an elevator descent to the Steinhart Aquarium, where the flooded Amazon forest can be viewed from below through an acrylic tunnel.
