
Orkhon Waterfall, also known as Ulaan Tsutgalan or Red Waterfall, is a stunning natural feature in the Orkhon Valley, part of Mongolia's central Övörkhangai Province. Formed by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes over 20,000 years ago, the waterfall boasts a spectacular 20-meter drop within the scenic Khangai Mountains. It's located about 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Kharkhorin and is best visited from June to September when the flow is strongest. The surrounding area, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers a glimpse into Mongolia's rich history and nomadic culture. Visitors can enjoy hiking, horse-riding, and interacting with local herders, offering a true taste of the Mongolian steppe.
