Orchha Chhatris are a group of royal cenotaphs rising beside the Betwa River, just beyond the historic core of Orchha, the former capital of the Bundela rulers. Built as memorials to Bundela kings, the structures combine the vertical profile of North Indian temple towers with domes, arched openings and small rooftop pavilions associated with Mughal-era architecture. Their weathered stone surfaces, repeated geometric forms and varied heights create one of the town’s most recognizable skylines. From the riverbank or across the water, the chhatris appear as a compact procession of towers, with calm stretches of the Betwa adding reflections and a sense of scale.
