Oran Ahmed Ben Bella Airport stands in Es Sénia, just south of Oran, and serves as the main air gateway to Algeria’s second-largest city and the country’s western region. It is named for Ahmed Ben Bella, the first president of independent Algeria. The airport’s modern terminal, broad apron and control tower form a distinctly contemporary counterpoint to Oran’s historic Mediterranean cityscape, while arriving and departing aircraft reflect the city’s long-standing role as a link between Algeria, Europe and the wider Mediterranean.
