Located in the western district of Munich, Olympiapark is a top tourist destination. Built in 1972, it was the main site of the 1972 Summer Olympics and is now a popular destination for sports, recreation, and relaxation. The entire complex covers more than 1000 acres and features one of the world’s largest Olympic Stadiums, a swimming hall, and two indoor skiing trails. Visitors can also take advantage of other attractions such as the Olympia Park, the Olympic Tower, and the Sea Life aquarium. There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy at the park as well including bike rentals and boat tours. Olympiapark also hosts Olympic-themed games including a 21-meter free fall tower and a Telemachos artificial ice rink. Music lovers can partake in the Summer Concert Series or check out the Bavarian Music Pavilion, showcasing a variety of genres from classical to rock.
