Olympia Hall (Olympiahalle) is a sports and event arena in Munich, Germany. It is situated in the northern part of Munich's inner city, in the immediate vicinity of the Olympic Park. The arena, which opened in 1972, has a capacity of up to 18,000 people and hosts a number of events like concerts, sporting events, and trade shows. With a floor space of 40,000 m2 (430,000 ft2), it is one of the largest indoor arenas in Europe. A wide range of events have been held in the arena, including the Munich Massacre, the 1973 World Ice Hockey Championships, the 1982 World Figure Skating Championships, the 2006 World Figure Skating Championships, the German finals of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003, 2008, and 2011, and concerts by numerous high-profile acts. It is also a popular tour destination for musicians and other performers who usually perform two or three shows in a row. The arena is serviced by the U2 station of the Munich U-Bahn.
