Olha and Elizabeth Church
📍 Ukraine
Olha and Elizabeth Church is one of the oldest churches in Lviv, Ukraine. Built at the end of the 13th century, it is named after two Orthodox saints, Princess Olha of Kiev and the martyr Elizabeth of Hungary. The church has a striking, white-stone structure with an elaborate Gothic style. It also contains many Renaissance features such as round arches, a large rose window, slender columns, and various pieces of exquisite baroque décor. While the interior has been damaged and altered over time, it still evokes the unique flavor of Eastern European architecture. Visitors can also discover artifacts from the 17th century, such as carved wooden figures, stained glass windows, and a 19th century altar. The Olha and Elizabeth Church continues to serve the local community and remains a sight to behold.
