Old Match Factory
📍 Finland
The Old Match Factory (Vanha Tekstiilitehdas) is a unique former industrial complex located in the heart of Tampere, Finland. It was originally built in 1884 for the production of matches, and was the city's first large-scale industry. By the time it closed operations in the early 20th century, it had become a vital part of the city's skyline and economy. Today, the Old Match Factory has been transformed into a vibrant cultural centre, housing everything from art galleries to performance venues. While here, travellers will be able to discover the architectural beauty of the site, featuring period-style buildings, cobblestone streets and a historic windmill. Visitors can also explore the campus-style grounds, which are home to a variety of eateries and cafes, as well as some interesting shops. There are also various events and concerts organised throughout the year, so keep an eye out for something that may catch your interest!
