The Old Bridge Heidelberg is a 350-year-old sandstone bridge located in Heidelberg, Germany. It spans the River Neckar and links the old town of Heidelberg to its eastern suburb of Bergheim. A notable feature of the bridge is its great size. The structure is 199 meters long and almost 10 meters wide, making it Europe’s longest arched bridge. It is composed of 18 arches and contains various stone sculptures and other adornments, that have become iconic symbols of Heidelberg’s cityscape. It is a popular spot among tourists & photographers alike, offering spectacular views of the city and its surrounding nature. Public facilities located near the bridge include an ice cream parlor and numerous boat rental places. Even if you don’t plan to take the boat, the bridge makes for a great stroll and a perfect break from exploring the city.
