📍 From Mission Hill Family Estate Winery, Canada
Okanagan Lake forms the eastern edge of West Kelowna, separating the city’s vineyard-covered slopes from Kelowna on the opposite shore. This long, narrow freshwater lake lies within the traditional territory of the syilx Okanagan people and is central to the valley’s identity, recreation, and settlement. From West Kelowna, the water opens toward layers of dry hills and mountains, while the William R. Bennett Bridge creates a strong visual line across the lake. Along Gellatly Bay and other waterfront stretches, beaches, docks, boats, and reflections provide foreground detail; farther uphill, vineyard rows frame broad views of the blue lake and Kelowna’s skyline. Smoke haze and seasonal wildfire conditions can sometimes affect visibility across the valley.
