Oeschinen Lake

Oeschinen Lake in Kandersteg, Switzerland, is an alpine lake located 3520m above sea level in the Bernese Oberland. It is a popular destination among hikers and sightseers thanks to the stunning views of its surrounding high peaks, the crystal clear waters, and the wonderful array of wildlife spotted in the area. A popular walking trail leads from the nearby village of Kandersteg up to the lake, taking about 2 hours. Alternatively, visitors can take the chairlift up the Oeschinenberg mountain and make their descent from there. Once at the lake, visitors can take in the magnificent views of the snow-covered mountain peaks and the surrounding alpine vegetation, look for wildlife such as marmots, or enjoy a picnic by the shore. Kayaks, rowboats and pedal boats can also be hired at various reasonable rates.
