Obersee is a natural lake in Schönaz am Königssee, located in a stunning mountain setting in Germany's Bavarian region. An easy 1-hour hike from the town center and can also be accessed by boat. The large lake, typically a greenish-blue colour, is surrounded by alpine pastures, meadows, rugged cliffs, and a layer of patches of snow during the winter months. Popular activities include walking around the lake, kayaking, and paddle-boarding for more adventurous trips. Drinking in the views of the lake, its river, and the mountains that border it is a must. Rail car trips around the lake are available and can be a great way to take it all in.
