Oberbaum Bridge is a bridge in Berlin, Germany that spans the River Spree between Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. Built in 1895-96, the double-decker bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city, with its distinctive redbrick arches. The elaborate Gothic Revival towers that dominate either end of the bridge were completed in 1897 and are beautifully decorated with carvings and statues. The bridge connects two sections of the city and features two separate lanes for pedestrian, cycle and motor traffic. It is situated close to where the East and West sides of the city were divided during the Cold War. The bridge is well known for its insight into Berlin’s turbulent history and offers a picturesque view of the surrounding area.
