O’Neill Bay is a remote, rugged and spectacular stretch of coastline located in Muriwai, New Zealand. It’s a place of intense natural beauty, with spectacular black-sand beaches, jagged cliffs, thundering waves of a wild Tasman sea, and an impressive array of marine life. Kayaking, boating and exploring the foreshore are the key activities here, perfect for the explorer who loves to be in the wild. There is also an ancient Maori pa site nearby which is worth visiting. Make sure to stick to the walkways and lead with respect and awareness. Enjoy the beautiful seascape sunsets with the ospreys hovering all over, or spectacular tide-pools with starfish and other surprises with the incoming and outgoing tides. And of course don't leave without doing some long exposure photography!
