The Notre Dame des Sablons Church is a medieval building situated in Aigues-Mortes, in the south of France. Built in the 13th century, the building is a prominent historic landmark in the city and a symbol of the Provence region. It is a typical example of Provencal Romanesque architecture, and features a single-nave apse, a vaulted ceiling and a bell tower. Inside, the church houses ancient frescos and murals painted by local artists. It can be visited from May to September from 10AM until 6PM, free of charge. The Church is located in the Parc de l'Orangerie, close to the city walls. Take some time to explore this beautiful park as well, a peaceful place to wander surrounded by trees and greenery. It’s the perfect escape from the bustling city. Be sure to admire the view from the walls at sunset, when the whole area glows in a warm light.
