Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica, located in Ottawa, Canada, is a National Historic Site of Canada and one of the oldest and most prominent religious sites in Canada. It is the oldest and largest churches in Ottawa that still exists today. The church dates back to 1841 when the Oblates of Mary Immaculate bought the land from the families of the Bytown settlers. The church underwent expansion during the 19th century and was declared a basilica in 1990. Inside, the cathedral features soaring ceilings, marble floors, and stained-glass windows. There are also 14 side chapels, each dedicated to a Canadian Catholic saint, feature various stunning sculptures, stained-glass windows, and some incredibly ornate carvings. Guests can also explore the crypt, the crypt museum, and the Sacred Heart Chapel. There is no admission fee to the church and it is open every day throughout the year.
