📍 From Chapman's Peak, South Africa
Noordhoek Beach stretches along the Atlantic side of Cape Town’s southern peninsula, below Chapman’s Peak and west of Noordhoek village. Its broad, pale sands and dune belt contrast with the mountain slopes at the northern end and the open ocean to the west. The shoreline extends south toward Kommetjie, creating a sweeping coastal landscape largely free of beachfront development. Horse riders are a familiar sight, reflecting Noordhoek’s strong equestrian character and adding a sense of scale against the sand and surf. At low tide, wet sand reflects the sky and surrounding mountains, while long lines of breaking waves emphasize the beach’s length. Along the southern stretch, the remains of the Kakapo, a steamship stranded in 1900, add a tangible fragment of the peninsula’s maritime history.
