Nihonbashi is a major Japanese city located in Chuo City in Japan. It is one of Tokyo's 23 "special wards". Nihonbashi is the birthplace of modern Japan, having served as the home of the country's first official financial district and the head office of many banks and corporations. The area is a vibrant, commercial hub, with Takashimaya department store at the center of the shopping district. Along the main street, which connects the bridge and station, many interesting, shops, restaurants and temples are located. Nihonbashi is a great place to explore the culture, history and architecture of Edo-Tokyo in addition to modern trends. Visit Asakusa for a nearby temple, or take a stroll through some of the historic districts like Mitsukoshi Department Store or the Imperial Palace. The Imperial Palace Park features a large moat and a garden, which walks around the palace grounds. Nihonbashi also boasts several hidden gems, including the beautifully-lit Nihonbashi bridge and the SkyTree, offering breathtaking views of Tokyo.
