The Niederwalddenkmal was built in neo-romantic style, using a mixture of spolia or ancient stone columns taken from other monuments. It stands as a symbol of German unity and comprises of a grand stairway leading up to a grand hall with a bronze sculpture of the Germania made by Reinhold Begas. Nearby is a stone gallery and below the monument is a bronze eagle looking out towards the vineyards-studded Rhine Valley. An aerial cable car offers easy access and great views of the Rhine and the surrounding vineyards. From the monument's terrace is a view of Koblenz and the Rhine River.
