Nido d’Aquila is a rocky coastal area on the western side of La Maddalena island, overlooking the channels and smaller islands of the archipelago. Its granite outcrops and traces of military fortifications reflect La Maddalena’s long strategic role in guarding the waters between Sardinia and Corsica. The scene is defined by wind-shaped Mediterranean scrub, pale stone and an open horizon toward Spargi. From the exposed shoreline, layered islands create a strong sense of depth, while low western light brings out the granite’s warm tones and turns the headlands into silhouettes.
