Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace located in Schwangau, Germany. The castle was built by King Ludwig II as an attempt to recreate a romanticized vision of a Bavarian Medieval castle that was frequently contemplated in operas, books, and movies. The castle overlooks flowery meadows, clear lakes, and quiet forests that all contribute to the enchanted scenery surrounding the palace, creating spectacular views. In addition to the marvelous exterior, the interior of Neuschwanstein Castle is a world of its own – filled with opulent wall designs and intricate carvings. Next to the castle lies the even more iconic Marienbrücke bridge, which offers the best views of the castle and the breathtaking landscape that lies beyond it. Visitors to the castle are taken on a guided tour throughout the interior rooms, with some of its highlights being the lavish Hall of Singers, the King’s Throne Room, and the Grand Staircase. There are also plenty of photo opportunities outside the castle walls, along the hills and bridges surrounding the palace.
