Neuschwanstein Castle
📍 From Inside, Germany
Neuschwanstein Castle is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace located atop a hill in southwest Bavaria, Germany. Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, the castle quickly became one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Neuschwanstein's soaring towers, graceful arches, ornate interior and spectacular hilltop setting make it one of the most romantic sights in Germany. The castle is a mixture of styles, incorporating both Romanesque and Gothic elements. The exterior is especially picturesque, with strong motifs and a fairy-tale appearance. Inside, visitors will find elegantly appointed living quarters, extensive murals, frescoes, and intricately detailed woodwork. Entry to the castle is only allowed with a guided tour, however visitors are free to explore the surrounding surroundings, including the picturesque entrance court, the Hohenschwangau and Marienbrücke bridges, and the classic Alps views.
