📍 From East Side of Bridge, Germany
The Neuschwanstein Castle, located in Schwangau, Germany, is a stunning 19th century Romanesque Revival castle. It is often referred to as “the castle of the fairy-tale king” due to its appearance and its connections to the composer Richard Wagner. The castle was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a tribute to the characters in Wagner’s operas. It also served as an escape from the rigid politics of court life. When visiting the castle, admire its grandeur from one of the bridge viewpoints as its delicate spires and tall towers reach up to the sky. Inside, explore the multiple courtyards, gothic sodas, courtyards, and towers, offering beautiful views of the surrounding areas. Make sure to also tour the 16th century Marienbrucke, a 200-meter-long bridge suspended in the air offering some of the most breathtaking photographs of the castle. Visit the small village of Schwangau and its quaint shops, churches, and restaurants for a chance to experience local culture.
