
The Neues Palais in Potsdam is a magnificent former royal palace of Frederick the Great of Prussia. It was completed in 1769 and is located at the western side of Park Sanssouci that has been inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1990. Now it houses the University of Potsdam. The building is impressive and grand with Italian late baroque-style features. The massive courtyard features various statues and portico that you can appreciate. Make sure to also visit other parts of the university grounds, including its ponds and fascinating edifices. Get a unique perspective of the area by taking a boat ride along Babelsberger Kanal, or take a walk around the nearby Babelsberg Park that has a beautiful English landscape garden. Enjoy a unique experience spotting local wildlife such as pheasants, ducks and geese in the area!
