The Neptune Fountain (Fontana del Nettuno) is one of the most iconic landmarks in Rome. It was constructed between 1574 and 1575 by Giovanni Fontana and Giacomo della Porta, and is situated in the centre of Piazza del Popolo. Adorned with Neptune, flanked by a pair of tritons and with sea nymphs gazing on from the sides, it is a must-visit for all tourists. Not only is it a beautiful piece of Renaissance architecture, but it is also a lively square filled with locals, street performers and vendors. So don’t forget to add it to your Rome itinerary.
