Naturpark Fanes-Sennes-Prags protects a broad section of the northern Dolomites in South Tyrol, encompassing the Fanes and Sennes plateaus, the Braies valley, alpine pastures, forests, and pale limestone massifs. Its high karst terrain is shaped by exposed rock, sinkholes, cliffs, and wide upland basins, creating a striking contrast between austere peaks and green grazing land. The area also belongs to the Ladin cultural landscape, and the Fanes plateau is closely associated with the traditional Ladin cycle of Fanes legends. Photographs often emphasize the scale of the plateaus, solitary mountain huts, winding trails, and the warm pink-orange glow that Dolomite rock can take on near sunrise or sunset. Lago di Braies, with its reflective water beneath Croda del Becco, forms the park’s best-known lake scene.
