Natur-Park Schöneberger Südgelände occupies part of the former Tempelhof railway marshalling yard in Berlin’s Schöneberg district, beside Priesterweg S-Bahn station. After railway activity declined, woodland and dry grassland spread across the tracks, creating an unusual meeting of industrial heritage and urban nature. A surviving water tower, a preserved steam locomotive and rails disappearing into vegetation keep the site’s working past visible. Raised metal walkways thread through parts of the park, while contemporary sculptures introduce another layer of human intervention. For photographs, the distinctive scene is the contrast between rigid railway geometry and irregular growth: parallel tracks beneath trees, weathered steel against foliage, and industrial structures rising above the canopy.
