National Trust - Ashdown House

Ashdown House is a stunning 17th century stately home located in East Sussex, in the South East of England. It was built by the Earl of Athlone who, in 1670, commissioned Architect Sir Roger Pratt to design the property. Today it stands as a wonderfully preserved example of Georgian architecture, and is surrounded by an 800-acre estate. Visitors can explore the beautifully landscaped grounds which includes two lake views, two 16 acre meadows, and an extensive network of footpaths. Inside the house, visitors can enjoy a stroll through various rooms decorated with period furniture and artwork, and explore the lavish gardens and terrace. Ashdown House is a popular wedding venue too, offering a picturesque setting for any special occasion. Alongside the famous house and formal gardens, the grounds also boast a Grade II* listed walled garden, an aviary with exotic birds, a maze, a doll and toy museum, an orangery, and an ancient woodland walk.
