Nashville, Tennessee’s capital, rises along the Cumberland River and is internationally identified with country music, songwriting, and recording. Downtown’s visual character combines brick warehouses, neon-lit honky-tonks on Lower Broadway, the historic Ryman Auditorium, and a modern skyline crowned by the twin-spired AT&T Building. The John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge frames broad views of the river, stadium, and city towers, especially when evening light catches the water and Broadway’s signs begin to glow. Beyond its “Music City” identity, Nashville also holds important civil-rights history: student-led lunch-counter sit-ins helped desegregate downtown businesses in 1960.
