The Museum of the American Revolution stands in Philadelphia’s Old City, a few blocks from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Opened in 2017, it traces the Revolution from colonial unrest through independence and the creation of the United States, using weapons, documents, artworks, personal objects, and immersive displays. Its narratives include the experiences of soldiers, women, enslaved and free Black people, and Native nations, revealing the conflict’s competing ideas of liberty. The signature artifact is George Washington’s wartime headquarters tent, presented in a dedicated theater. Outside, the museum’s red-brick, Georgian-inspired façade echoes the historic architecture of the surrounding district, while its corner setting provides clean views of the symmetrical entrance and stone detailing.
