Muralla de Avila is a medieval defense wall that encircles the old hilltop town of Ávila in Spain. It stretches for 2.5 kilometers making it the most well-preserved Roman city walls in the world. It was constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The walls are flanked by 8 different gates and more than a hundred towers. It is now open for visitors to explore. You can walk through the wall and enjoy a magnificent view from the turrets. It also has two monumental gates – the Puerta del Alcazar and the Puerta de San Vicente. Explore the wall and the old city centre to get a unique insight into Spanish history and culture. Don't forget to take some amazing photographs!
