
The Muralla de Avila, or the walls of Avila, are some of the most impressive and well-preserved medieval fortifications in all of Europe. Located in the heart of the Spanish city of Avila, the walls were built between the 11th and 14th centuries in order to protect the city from potential invaders. The walls are nearly 4000 meters long and feature 88 towers, 10 gates, and more than 2500 embrasures. Walking along the walls provides visitors with spectacular sights of the breathtaking cityscape below. It provides a glimpse into the city's rich and fascinating history, and allows visitors to truly appreciate the majesty and scale of these centuries-old walls.
