The Muralla d’Altafulla forms part of the medieval fortifications enclosing Vila Closa, Altafulla’s historic upper quarter in Catalonia’s Tarragona province. Built around the hilltop castle and the Church of Sant Martí, the wall preserves the compact, defensive character of the old settlement, distinct from the town’s seaside district below. Weathered stonework, gateways, narrow lanes and pale façades create strong layers of texture, while the elevated setting opens occasional views toward tiled roofs and the Mediterranean. Warm, low light emphasizes the rough masonry and gives the enclosure’s ochre tones greater depth.
