Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary and The Big Dam in Throsby, Australia offer a host of unique experiences. The 345-hectare protected area is home to some of the region’s last remaining native grassy woodlands and wetlands. Wandering the sanctuary, visitors may see some of the amazing native wildlife, such as platypus, bandicoots, echidnas and wallabies, keeping a keen eye out for the endangered grassland Earless Dragon. The sanctuary offers long, meandering tracks and bird hides, perfect for day trips and bush walks. And then there is The Big Dam, the surrounding wetlands and the spectacular views of several nearby windfarm turbines. The Big Dam was designed as a part of the Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary, with a variety of walks and hides. It is a great spot to relax and unwind, with plenty of birdwatching, a picturesque lake and comfortable seating.
