The Muelle Fiscal is Progreso’s working port pier, extending from the Gulf-facing waterfront across the exceptionally shallow waters off northern Yucatán until ships can reach sufficient depth. Its remarkable length makes it the town’s defining landmark and reflects Progreso’s role as the maritime gateway for Mérida and the wider peninsula. From the beach and Malecón, the pier forms a strong line toward the horizon, while its repeating supports create geometric patterns above turquoise or slate-colored water as the light changes. Because it serves an active cargo and cruise port, access along the pier is restricted; the clearest public views are from the surrounding shoreline.
