Mount Timpanogos
📍 From Alpine Loop, United States
Mount Timpanogos rises northeast of Provo as the defining mountain of Utah Valley and the second-highest summit in Utah’s Wasatch Range, reaching 11,752 feet (3,582 meters). Its broad western face, layered limestone cliffs, deep cirques, and snow-lined gullies create a recognizable backdrop above Provo and Orem. From the valley, late-day light emphasizes the ridges and exposed rock, while winter snow sharply traces the mountain’s folds. Summit routes from Aspen Grove and Timpooneke pass alpine meadows and the basin around Emerald Lake, but they are long, strenuous hikes with conditions that vary greatly by season. Timpanogos Cave National Monument lies separately on the mountain’s northern side in American Fork Canyon.
