Mount Tabor Trail in Portland, Oregon is a 3-mile loop that meanders through an area full of outdoor recreation opportunities, including a restored dry-prairie, wetlands and a small lake. The trail begins in the Mount Tabor Reservoir, one of the two reservoirs in Portland's watershed area. The loop continues along a flat grade and offers sweeping views of the valley, before heading up a steep pathway towards the summit of Mount Tabor. Hikers and cyclists alike will love the easy access to one of Portland's tallest peaks, as well as expansive outlooks of the city and surrounding area. With over 200 species of birds that migrate to these areas throughout the year, birding is a popular activity here, as well. Walkers should note that parts of the trail can be quite exposed and may require special clothing in certain seasons; yet the wildlife and fresh air make the hike well worth the adventure.
