Mount Fuji is a stratovolcano located within the Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures of Japan. It is the highest mountain in Japan and is one of the Three Holy Mountains, along with Tate and Haku. Mount Fuji has long been venerated, and is now also a popular tourist attraction. It has an elevation of 3,776 meters and a distinctive symmetrical cone shape. On clear days, it is considered one of the most photogenic locations in Japan and is a popular destination for climbers, nature lovers and photographers of all levels. The mountain is open for climbing during July and August, however, the surrounding areas offer many breathtaking views at any time of year, with Fuji Five Lakes, Aokigahara and Lake Kawaguchiko being some of the most picturesque. Trailheads are easily reached by public transportation, ensuring a convenient visit.
