Mount Elbrus is a dormant volcano located on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountain range, in Khasaut, Russia. It stands at 5,642 metres, making it the highest peak in Europe. Mount Elbrus is a popular destination for hikers, ski-tourists, and climers. It is a magnificent peak rising from a beautiful landscape, with glaciers, ridges, and snow-capped snowfields. From its summit, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Circassian mountain range. While Mount Elbrus is extremely suitable for mountaineering, it also provides some activities for beginners, such as hiking and snow-walking. There are also some incredible alpine views of the surrounding mountains. The best access to the summit of Mount Elbrus is through the Elbrus South Col, or by cable car or lift. To ascend the summit, the best route is the two-day Elbrus South Side Round. You can also reach the summit by the Elbrus North Side routes. The area around the mountain is home to a variety of wildlife, including mountain goats, marmots, and eagles.
