
The Mosta Rotunda is a Roman Catholic church located in the center of Mosta, Malta. Located on a hillock, it is one of the most beautiful buildings on the island and is a major tourist attraction. Built in the mid-19th century, the building was inspired by St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and is a dominating sight in the landscape. Attracting many visitors every year, it was built with Maltese stone, craftsmanship of the Knights of St. John and the best glassmakers from Naples. It is noted for having one of the world's largest unsupported domes, making it the third largest in Europe, and one of the most striking buildings in Malta. The interior of the building is magnificent and decorated with intricate sculptures, mosaic and frescoes, as well as religious artwork. It is a must visit place in Malta and a frequently visited attraction.
