Mosta Rotunda

Mosta Rotunda is a hugely significant church located on the Island of Malta. It includes a circular structure, with a 35m diameter and a total height of 75m. The dome is the third largest unsupported dome in the world, and its capacity for 10,000 people clearly demonstrates its importance in the region. The interior contains some of Malta’s most coveted art and paintings, and the surrounding courtyard is a key area of daily life in the region. On the feast of The Assumption of the Virgin, a ritual whereby a statue of The Madonna is carried around the church three times unfolds, stirring strong emotions among the large crowd of faithful.
